Title: you'll not feel the drowning
Fandom: BBC Sherlock/Marble Hornets crossover
Characters/Pairing: Sherlock Holmes, John Watson (from Sherlock); Jay, Alex Kralie, and Tim (from Marble Hornets); no pairings
Rating: R for language, violence and generally scary creepypasta themes.
Word count: ~8650.
Warning: Slenderman, aka horror/thriller themes. Included is a lot of speculation on Marble Hornets, as well as spoilers for Seasons 2 and 3. Set between 2x02 Hound of the Baskervilles and 2x03 The Reichenbach Fall for Sherlock, and just before Entry #26 for MH (the season 1 finale).
Notes: A fill for two similar prompts at sherlockbbc_fic: Sherlock goes up against the Slenderman here, and the more detailed request for Marble Hornets/Sherlock trans-Atlantic crossover. Title from the Decemberists's album The Crane Wife.
Summary: Sherlock gets an unusual case tip via his website; not a week later, he's in America, surrounded by film students who are convinced of supernatural intervention in their lives. "Sherlock," John starts. The look in Wilkerson's eye, the dead, focused fury, it strikes Sherlock as a familiar darkness. He wants to know. "I'm bored," he warns John.

And second draft of Yulefic #1 is off to beta. (I wound up lucky enough to have MULTIPLE betas on this besides my usual.) Searching out a beta for #2, no dice so far. Treats may wind up being a thing, I have a bunch of letters bookmarked. Even though I have WiPs to work on, there's no way I'll be able to focus on one of my Babies while the YT fics are still in process. TREATS IT IS.

I can't wait until this is over. Which is good, because I only have to wait eight days.

And then another five days until reveals, as Yulechat tells me.

DESPAIRRRRRR

Clearly I must write all the treats and stocking-stuffers in the meantime.

Title: Last Night On Earth
Fandom: Supernatural
Characters/Pairing: Always-a-girl!Dean (Dee), Castiel, Dee/Castiel
Rating: A light PG-13
Disclaimer: The CW and Kripke own everything you recognize from Supernatural.
Word count: 910.
Warning: Unbetaed.
Note: Written for insmallpackages, the prompt Fic: Supernatural; always-a-girl!Dean/Cas, the first time they...(author's choice).
Summary: A night of firsts. Dee is kind of into Cas, Cas is kind of into Dee, and he's probably going to be dead tomorrow. About as fluffy and shippy as an AU of 5x03 "Free to Be You And Me" can get.

This library keyboard seems to not want me to capitalize, but I'm going to persevere. Okay.

So I'm back to working captioning telephone calls, glory hallelujah, I should be out of training by next week. (Expect a victory post full of gifs, I really am not enjoying rehashing everything I learned two years ago and will be happy to be out.) It's a good job that gives me time to read fic, and is not 80 minutes away like the previous job which I never mentioned here because I disliked it so much.

Fighting back against the writer's block as always. I don't know what to start with, since I have so many WiPs and things that should really have been written a year ago. The Muse only comes to me when she feels like it, alas. :/

The WiPs are all at that point where I have to make major decisions, and I have three or four potential plotlines per story, with varying degrees of ridiculousness and wankiness. "Write the good idea," I know, but it's not as easy as that. I'm also incredibly picky when it comes to avoiding plotholes, to the point of not writing at all. Oy.

I AM STILL LOOKING FOR A BETA. My grand ol' friends (occultebelta on style and voice, dramaturgy on themes, arcs and voice, and kaesa on mechanics, style and voice) are serving remarkably well, but I feel bad for pressing them into service at my bidding. If you consider yourself a particularly rough and tumble beta with time and patience, maybe drop me a line? ;_; Thanks.

Speaking of betaing, I have 14 chapters of fic from kaesa to beta. Yep: 14. This weekend is going to be great.

Title: castles are burning in my heart
Fandom: Supernatural
Characters/Pairing: Julia (human!Ruby), Ruby, Lilith, and Alistair.
Rating: Heavy PG-13 for violence and mature non-sexual contact.
Warnings: Description of torture.
Disclaimer: Title from Tori Amos's "Girl," and the WB and Kripke own everything you recognize from Supernatural.
Word count: 3572.
Summary: Ruby remembers what it feels like to be human. The pain is the point, the edge, the handle of every knife. The pain is all there is.

I don't even know where to start about what's happened in the last few months.

Suffice to say that I'm still alive, mostly, and trying very hard to write despite the sheer amount of stress of any given workday.

Yep. I'll come back and write more at some point. I don't even know if this post has a point other than to indicate that this journal isn't dead.
